10 Band Fundraiser Ideas That Work
We run the Slice the Price Card, a Domino’s pizza card fundraiser, so of course it’s #1 on our list! All 10 ideas are proven favorites that band programs have relied on for years. Most bands combine a few of them over a school year.
- Slice the Price Card sale. Every student shares a personal link. Supporters buy a $20 Domino’s card that gives a free large pizza with the purchase of a large at participating Domino’s. Your band keeps $10 of every card. There is no upfront cost and nothing to store. With a big roster, a handful of cards per student adds up fast.
- Play-a-thon. Supporters pledge an amount for every minute or hour your students play. Or they give a flat donation. Hold it somewhere public, with permission. The music may draw donations from passersby too.
- Concert concessions and bake sale. A concert night usually brings families into the building. Sell drinks, snacks, and baked goods before the show and during the break.
- Program ad sales. Local businesses buy ads in your concert and show programs. It is usually a small ask for a sponsor, and your only cost is printing.
- Game-night parking. If your school allows it, band families run the parking lot at home football games for a small fee per car.
- Sponsor a chair or instrument. Supporters sponsor a seat in the band or pay for a specific instrument repair. Their name goes in the next concert program.
- Community concert or talent show. Sell tickets to a night of music from your bands, soloists, and small groups.
- Car wash. A band camp classic: one Saturday, a borrowed parking lot, and plenty of volunteers.
- Spirit wear. Band shirts and hoodies for students, parents, and alumni. Run it on preorder and the band never fronts a dollar.
- 50/50 raffle. Sell tickets at concerts and games; the winner takes half the pot and the band keeps the rest. Check your school’s and your state’s rules before you sell a ticket.
Here’s why we think you’ll love the Slice the Price Card fundraiser!
A Band Fundraiser Big Enough for a Big Program
Band is one of the biggest budgets in the building. Marching uniforms cost money. Instrument repair, drill design, and music add up. So do buses to every competition. The Slice the Price Card turns your big roster into a serious two-week fundraiser.
Start Your Free FundraiserHow the Slice the Price Card program works
The Slice the Price Card is a Domino’s Pizza fundraiser. It has helped groups raise money since 1999. Your supporters buy a $20 card, and the card sells itself. It gets them a free large pizza when they buy a large pizza at menu price. It works at participating Domino’s stores until the card expires.
- Zero upfront cost. There is no cost to your group, ever, no minimum order, and no leftover inventory, because cards are only sent out once they are sold. The program is risk-free.
- 50% profit. Cards sell for $20 and your group keeps $10 of every card sold.
- Sell online, on paper, or both. We set up a free online store. Supporters can buy from anywhere, and we ship the cards to them. You can also use printed order forms. Groups that use both usually sell more cards than groups that only sell online.
- Runs two weeks. A short sale keeps everyone focused. We find it gets the best results.
- A specialist helps the whole way. Your Fundraising Specialist sets it up with you. They send your materials and check in with you.
- Free prize programs. You can add prize and T-shirt programs that reward sellers. They work great for schools and younger sellers.
Cards are good for 6 months to 1 year, based on when your fundraiser starts. The expiration date is printed on every card.
Why it’s perfect for school bands
Big rosters, bigger results. Band is one of the biggest groups in any school, often well over a hundred students. That headcount is the whole story here. Profit is simply members times cards sold times $10. A program that size has real five-figure potential from one two-week sale. Many band and pit students also play in the school’s stage productions. Programs often pair this with a drama club and theater fundraiser.
Heavy, specific costs. Band pays for marching uniforms. It pays to clean them too. It pays to fix and replace instruments. It buys drill and music licenses and color guard gear. It also buys charter buses to every competition and away game. A general fund rarely keeps up. A focused fundraiser helps.
Travel every season. Competition season means travel, and travel means money. Entry fees and buses for marching season and concert festivals add up fast. The profit your band keeps can go straight to those trips. There are no restrictions.
Easy to manage at scale. Every student gets a personal share link. Supporters pay online, and cards ship directly to them. A live dashboard lets a band director track a hundred-plus sellers. No one collects cash by hand.
What your band can earn
Your group keeps $10 for every $20 card sold — a full 50% profit with no upfront cost. There is no minimum and no maximum number of cards.
The math is simple:
Participants × Cards per participant × $10 = Your profit
10 participants selling 15 cards each
$1,500
25 participants selling 15 cards each
$3,750
50 participants selling 20 cards each
$10,000
100 participants selling 20 cards each
$20,000
Most groups raise around $1,500. Larger or highly motivated groups have raised $10,000+. Our largest fundraiser raised about $21,450. A fundraiser needs at least 5 participants. These numbers are only a guide for setting goals. Real results depend on how many people sell and how hard they work.
