10 Football Fundraiser Ideas That Work

We run the Slice the Price Card, a Domino’s pizza card fundraiser, so of course it’s #1 on our list! All 10 ideas are proven favorites. Football programs and booster clubs have used them for years. Most run several of them over a season.

  1. Slice the Price Card sale. Each player shares a personal link. Supporters buy a $20 Domino’s card. It gives a free large pizza with the purchase of a large at participating Domino’s. Your program keeps $10 of every card. There is no upfront cost and nothing to store. A football roster is big, so a handful of cards each adds up fast.
  2. Youth football camp. Your players run a summer skills camp for elementary and middle school kids. Families pay a sign-up fee. It can pay for a good part of the season. It also builds interest in the program.
  3. Home-game concessions. Friday nights fill the stands for hours. A concession stand staffed by parents may be the steadiest money a football program has.
  4. Fence and scoreboard banners. Local businesses pay to hang a banner at the stadium for the season. One sponsor sheet and a few talks can pay for new equipment.
  5. Program and schedule-poster ads. Sell ad space in the game program and on the season schedule poster. You only pay to print them. Sponsors get seen all season long.
  6. Booster golf outing. An offseason scramble with an entry fee, hole sponsors, and a raffle. It takes real planning, so start it months ahead.
  7. Restaurant spirit night. A local restaurant gives your program a share of one evening’s sales. Promote it hard the week before. How many people come decides what you make.
  8. 50/50 raffle. Sell tickets in the stands at every home game; the winner takes half the pot. Some states regulate raffles, so clear it with the school first.
  9. Preseason car wash. Two-a-days are already on the calendar and the whole team is there. One Saturday and a borrowed lot is all it takes.
  10. Homecoming alumni tailgate. Invite alumni back to a tailgate before the homecoming game. Sell tickets and food. Hold a raffle. You raise money and stay in touch with former players.

Here’s why we think you’ll love the Slice the Price Card fundraiser!

A Football Fundraiser That Scores Before the Season Starts

Football gear is not optional and it is not cheap. Think of helmets, reconditioning, shoulder pads, blocking sleds, and away-game travel. The Slice the Price Card turns a two-week pizza sale into real money for the program. It costs nothing to get started.

How the Slice the Price Card program works

The Slice the Price Card is a Domino’s Pizza fundraiser. It has helped groups raise money since 1999. Your supporters buy a $20 card, and the card sells itself. It gets them a free large pizza when they buy a large pizza at menu price. It works at participating Domino’s stores until the card expires.

  • Zero upfront cost. There is no cost to your group, ever, no minimum order, and no leftover inventory, because cards are only sent out once they are sold. The program is risk-free.
  • 50% profit. Cards sell for $20 and your group keeps $10 of every card sold.
  • Sell online, on paper, or both. We set up a free online store. Supporters can buy from anywhere, and we ship the cards to them. You can also use printed order forms. Groups that use both usually sell more cards than groups that only sell online.
  • Runs two weeks. A short sale keeps everyone focused. We find it gets the best results.
  • A specialist helps the whole way. Your Fundraising Specialist sets it up with you. They send your materials and check in with you.
  • Free prize programs. You can add prize and T-shirt programs that reward sellers. They work great for schools and younger sellers.

Cards are good for 6 months to 1 year, based on when your fundraiser starts. The expiration date is printed on every card.

Why it’s perfect for football teams

The longest gear list. Football has the longest equipment list in the school. Helmet reconditioning alone happens every offseason. That is before pads, practice gear, and field paint. A summer or late-summer sale puts cash in hand before two-a-days, when the bills are biggest.

Big rosters win. A varsity, JV, and freshman program can field 60 to 100 players. At typical sales numbers, a roster that big has raised well into five figures on a single two-week sale. That is because profit is simply players times cards times $10.

Easy game-day sell. Pizza sells itself to a football crowd. Players ask family, neighbors, and the people in the stands on Friday night. A $20 buy-one-get-one card is an easy yes for anyone who orders pizza on game day. Every player gets a share link, so out-of-town relatives can buy too.

No practice lost. There is nothing to store in the locker room and nothing to count by hand. Sales show on a dashboard. Coaches are already busy with install, conditioning, and film. They can run this fundraiser without losing field time.

What your group can earn

Your group keeps $10 for every $20 card sold — a full 50% profit with no upfront cost. There is no minimum and no maximum number of cards.

The math is simple:

Participants × Cards per participant × $10 = Your profit

10 participants selling 15 cards each

$1,500

25 participants selling 15 cards each

$3,750

50 participants selling 20 cards each

$10,000

100 participants selling 20 cards each

$20,000

Most groups raise around $1,500. Larger or highly motivated groups have raised $10,000+. Our largest fundraiser raised about $21,450. A fundraiser needs at least 5 participants. These numbers are only a guide for setting goals. Real results depend on how many people sell and how hard they work.

What Is the Best Football Team Fundraiser?

The Slice the Price Card is a Domino’s Pizza fundraiser that football teams across the U.S. use to raise money with no upfront cost. Each card sells for $20 and your group keeps $10 — a 50% profit. Cards can be used at participating U.S. Domino’s locations online, in the app, or in-store. If you’re comparing gift card fundraising for football teams, the Slice the Price Card works like a reusable Domino’s discount card. Supporters can use it again and again until it expires. That makes it easier to sell than one-time gift cards. Platinum Fundraising has helped groups raise $44M+ since 1999.
